"Senior Makers @ SPL" Series: Planet of Percussion

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Civic Center Library
Copper Gallery
Planet of Percussion® is a trademarked world music presentation created and facilitated by seven-time GRAMMY® Nominee and Canyon Records Recording & Performing Artist Will Clipman. Following a lecture-demonstration of world music rhythm and polyrhythm by the Artist, participants work with a multicultural palette of indigenous percussion instruments, mastering individual rhythms and orchestrating them into a polyrhythmic percussive composition. The culminating activity is an impromptu performance by and for workshop participants as The Planetary Players Percussion Ensemble® followed by an informal sharing of their impressions of their workshop experience. No musical experience necessary!

“Senior Makers @ SPL” is a grant-funded initiative to provide Arts & Technology programs for our senior residents to cultivate health and wellness as well as lifelong learning. This project is supported by the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
